How Export to the Southern African Development Community (SADC)

Southern African Development Community (SADC)

Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an inter-governmental organization whose aim is to achieve economic development, peace and security, and growth, alleviate poverty, enhance the standard and quality of life of the peoples of Southern Africa, and support the socially disadvantaged through Regional Integration

SADC aims to facilitate trade by simplifying, harmonizing, standardizing, and modernizing regional customs procedures. The community is also keen on removing barriers to trade, such as import/export quotas and administrative oversights to ensure that member states can effectively trade with each other

The SADC Simplified Trade Regime Framework and SADC Regional Customs Transit Guarantee Regulations aimed at facilitating intra- and extra-SADC Trade were finalized in 2020. The SADC Simplified Trade Regime Framework and SADC Regional Customs Transit Guarantee Regulations help to ease and simplify intra and extra-SADC trade

The SADC E-Certificate of Origin (eCoO) helps to facilitate the application of the Certificate of Origin electronically, thus easing cross-border trade

A SADC Free Trade Area, in which Member States agree to remove tariffs against each other but are free to levy their own external tariffs on non-member nations, fosters economic cooperation between Member States. A Customs Union adds a common external tariff against non-SADC countries, with all members of the union receiving shares from that tariff
