How the calculation works

  1. 01

The customs value is the CIF value: goods, freight and insurance up to the port of entry, converted into US dollars.

  2. 02

The customs duty follows the EAC CET 2022 rate of the tariff line: 0, 10, 25 or 35%, or the higher rate of a sensitive item (Schedule 2).

  3. 03

Goods of EAC origin, with a certificate of origin, enter any partner state free of customs duty.

  4. 04

VAT, excise and other domestic levies are set by each partner state and are not added to this estimate.
