The Northern Corridor is the principal East African transit corridor. It links the Port of Mombasa in Kenya to Nairobi, then crosses Uganda via Malaba or Busia to Kampala, before extending to Rwanda (Kigali), Burundi (Bujumbura) and eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the long-established logistics backbone serving the landlocked countries of the East African hinterland, documented over time by the World Bank and the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA). The exact length and end-to-end transit times vary by segment and source and are not stated here.
